Robert L. "Bob" Logsdon, 85, died peacefully on November 23, 2016 at Scottish Rite Park after a three week residency. He had been ill with dementia and other problems for the past five years.

Bob was born August 2, 1931, to Anna (Crabbs) and Willard Logsdon in Guthrie Center. He lived his younger life in several communities in Iowa and Minnesota before moving to West Des Moines as a junior in high school. It was here that he met his future wife, Charlene Waters, and they...

Robert L. "Bob" Logsdon, 85, died peacefully on November 23, 2016 at Scottish Rite Park after a three week residency. He had been ill with dementia and other problems for the past five years.

Bob was born August 2, 1931, to Anna (Crabbs) and Willard Logsdon in Guthrie Center. He lived his younger life in several communities in Iowa and Minnesota before moving to West Des Moines as a junior in high school. It was here that he met his future wife, Charlene Waters, and they were married on February 3, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Their 65 years together were blessed with eight children.

Retiring from Bob Brown Chevrolet in 1994, Bob was Parts Manager for many years. He began his career in automotives at Paul Manning, which later became Bob Brown. Earning many awards and trips, Bob and Charlene were world travelers, and he drove many miles in foreign countries on their adventures.

Bob's legacy includes his eight children: Robert (Gelene), Linda Oxenford (Bruce), Michael (Gale), David (Jayne), Mary Millang (JW), Stephen (Brindusa), Mark (Angela), and Joseph (Christina). There are 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Bob has a sister, Myra Cox, and a brother, Bill Logsdon.

Bob is welcomed to his final home by his parents and grandson, Brian, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery and lunch will be served at Sacred Heart Parish Center. Family will be present for visitation at McLaren's Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 3 to 5 p.m.
