Bonnie Mae Hoogenakker, 79, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Des Moines First Assembly on Merle Hay Road with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Bonnie was born June 29, 1938 in Colfax, IA to Gomer and Anna Genora (Norem) Williams. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1956 and married Jay R. Hoogenakker on October 15, 1960. Bonnie enjoyed family...

Bonnie was born June 29, 1938 in Colfax, IA to Gomer and Anna Genora (Norem) Williams. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1956 and married Jay R. Hoogenakker on October 15, 1960. Bonnie enjoyed family activities, gardening, reading, cooking and spending time together at the family cabin near Pella. Bonnie was a woman of unwavering faith and whole-hearted devotion.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jay R. Hoogenakker of Urbandale; son, Alan (Dee) Hoogenakker of Urbandale; daughter, Grace (Steve) Lorts of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Lindsey Hartbarger, Ashley Hoogenakker (Mitch Harms), Bethany Hoogenakker (Danny Kemp), Allea and Alan J. Hoogenakker, Hannah, Jay and Libby Lorts; great-grandchildren, Brenden and Kensey Hartbarger; and brother-in-law, David V. (Lisa) Hoogenakker of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Russel and Jean V. Hoogenakker; brother, Walt Williams; and sister-in-law, VondaLee Williams.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Des Moines First Assembly, which will be forwarded to Convoy of Hope for hurricane relief.
